doing business in nepal

There are three bodies that provide investment permission in Nepal.

  1. Ministry of Industry: Any investment with less than USD 20 million dollars has to go to the ministry of Industry for investment permission.
  2. Industrial Promotion Board: Any investment between USD 20 million to 100 million has to go to the Industrial Promotion Board for investment permission.
  3. Investment Board: Any investment from USD 100 million and above has to go to the Investment Board for investment permission.

Foreign companies have to get registered at Company Registrar’s Office to start business in Nepal. Following flow-chart is an indicative of investment process in Nepal.

  • Investment application—IBN or Ministry of Industry or Industrial Promotion Board
  • Area of investment (Detail feasibility of the project)
  • Company registration
  • Investment Permission letter
